Getting Started

tela is a markdown-native team wiki — every page is plain markdown your team writes together, with live collaboration, a rich block editor, full-text and semantic search, and a built-in MCP server so AI agents read and write alongside you.

This page is the shortest path from zero to useful.

Core concepts

• Spaces — a tree of pages with its own members and visibility (private or public).
• Pages — markdown documents. Link them with [[Page Title]]; backlinks and the [[Graph view|knowledge graph]] build themselves.
• Organizations — group people so a whole team can be granted access to a space at once.

1. Sign in

Register with your email, confirm the link, and you're in. tela gives you a personal space to start writing immediately.

2. Create a space and a page

Make a space for your team or project, then add a page. Type / for the block menu (callouts, tables, diagrams, kanban, decks…) or just write markdown — see [[The editor & blocks]]. Link pages with [[…]] as you go.

3. Connect an agent

Connect your AI assistant over the built-in MCP server and it works right inside your wiki — searching, reading, and writing pages. The web Connect flow is OAuth, so there's no token to copy:

4. Invite your team

Invite members to a space, or grant a whole [[Administration|organization]] at once. To publish read-only, make a space public — see [[Publishing & public URLs]].

Starting a team? Create an organization yourself in Settings → Plan & Usage → Create a team, then invite teammates by email — they join with one click, or land in the team automatically when they sign up. Details in [[Administration]] and [[How to upgrade]].
