AppFlowy is a well-built open-source Notion alternative with a genuinely good native app. If you are self-hosting it, though, two details matter: the server that AppFlowy actually maintains for self-host is a closed-source commercial fork of its AGPL core, and its free self-host tier is one user seat per instance. tela is open core too — but the licensed part is company governance, not the product: the whole wiki, Atlas, Ask and the MCP server are AGPL and free, for as many people as you like.
